Business supremo and first lady of football joins Business Yorkshire line-up

Karren Brady to appear at Yorkshire Post Business Breakfast

Leading business figure and the ‘first woman in football’, Karren Brady, is joining the line up of fantastic speakers at the upcoming Business Yorkshire event on 1-2 October to share her extensive business knowledge and secrets of success. Having experienced huge success at a young age, Karren will be addressing the Yorkshire Post Business Breakfast on day one of the show to reveal how she achieved her rise to success, her effective leadership strategies and business growth advice.

Karren started her career at LBC Radio when she was 18 and swiftly moved to Saatchi & Saatchi as junior Account Handler. She joined Sports Newspapers in 1988 and became director within a year. Karren is now known as the first woman in football since she became Managing Director of Birmingham City Football Club aged just 23. Having turned around the fortunes of the club, she became the youngest Managing Director of a PLC in the UK when she masterminded the club’s float on the stock market.

Scott Hider, Managing Director of Business Yorkshire, comments, “We are delighted to add Karren to the Business Yorkshire line-up. Having already experienced huge success, she is certainly one of the biggest names in business and her fascinating story will provide an interesting insight for all attendees. As well as her achievements at Birmingham City, Karren has worked with some of the biggest business names in the world and along with her other roles in the media, will make for a highly informative and inspirational guest.”

Karren has also been successful in the media, having appeared on several high profile TV shows, including taking on the challenge of The Apprentice in a celebrity version of the show, where she led her team (Trinny Woodall, Jo Brand, Cheryl Cole, and Maureen Lipman) to a resounding victory and raised over £750,000 for charity. She has also hosted her own TV show, The Brady Bunch, as well as appearing on Loose Women and her own documentary, Inside Story – The Real Life Manageress.

Consistently recognised as one of the leading women in business, Karren has won a host of prestigious awards, both in the business field and for her inspiration to women.

Business Yorkshire is being held at Doncaster Racecourse on 1-2 October. For further information or to register for the free event, please visit www.business-yorkshire.co.uk
