SMES GIVEN TOP TIPS FOR EXHIBITING AT BUSINESS YORKSHIRE

SMEs exhibiting at the forthcoming Business Yorkshire exhibition and conference, taking place at Doncaster Racecourse on 25-26 November, were given a free masterclass in how to maximise their appearance at the event from experts John Blaskey of The Exhibiting Agency, Scott Hider, Director of Nationwide Media Group, and David Mclean of Geometry PR. The training day was attended by over 40 businesses who are exhibiting at Business Yorkshire for the first time.

John Blaskey gave exhibitors advice on how to plan and implement their exhibition strategy and gave advice on how to avoid the common pitfalls of exhibiting. David Mclean, account manager at Geometry PR, explained to the audience how exhibitors can use PR to promote themselves before, during and after the show.

Scott Hider said; “Stand sales for this year’s Business Yorkshire are strong and should be particularly welcomed given the current economic climate. To help SMEs get the most of the show we provided exhibiting top tips, including some easy tactics for staying in the memory of your visitors. For example, many people have a BlackBerry these days, so why not drop them an email after they have visited your stand? They will certainly remember you more this way and will appreciate the personal touch. If exhibitors take the advice onboard they have got more of a chance of turning enquiries into sales and will succeed at the show.”

Northern College of Barnsley is exhibiting at Business Yorkshire for the first time to promote itself as a conference centre. Gillian Peirson, External Booking Manager, attended the exhibitor training day and was very impressed; “I thought I understood our business before today. However, the training day helped us to identify exactly what it is that we want to sell at the exhibition. It gave us a much better understanding of what we need to do to promote our new service and to engage people at both the show and elsewhere.

“This will be the first time we exhibit and we are really looking forward to it, thanks to the excellent advice at the training day.”

Visitors and exhibitors at Business Yorkshire will be presented with a range of added value features including; keynote speakers in the Business Link Innovation Lounge, the Angels Den Theatre, the Google University and a programme of ‘How to’ seminars from local business experts. Exhibitors and visitors are also invited to socialise over drinks at the region’s largest networking event.
